1. Why should I choose a Newfoundland?
Newfoundlands are known for their gentle, patient, and affectionate nature. Often called "gentle giants," they are exceptional family companions that are wonderful with children and thrive on being part of the family. They are intelligent, loyal, and eager to please, making them excellent companions for active families who have the space and commitment to care for a giant breed.
2. Are your puppies AKC registered?
Yes. Every Creek's Edge Newfoundland puppy is eligible for registration with the American Kennel Club. Puppies are sold with either limited or full registration depending on the individual puppy, health testing, and our breeding program goals.
3. What health testing do you perform on your breeding dogs?
The health of our puppies begins with carefully selected parents. Our breeding dogs undergo appropriate health testing, which may include hip and elbow evaluations, cardiac examinations by a board-certified veterinary cardiologist, DNA testing for genetic conditions such as cystinuria, and other breed-specific screenings recommended for Newfoundlands. We only breed dogs that meet our high standards for health, temperament, and structure.
4. Do your puppies come with a health guarantee?
Yes. Every puppy is sold with a written health guarantee that covers certain hereditary genetic conditions. Before going home, each puppy receives a complete veterinary examination, age-appropriate vaccinations, deworming, and a health record so you can begin your journey with confidence.
5. How are your puppies raised?
Our puppies are raised in our home as part of our family. From birth, they receive daily handling, early neurological stimulation, socialization, exposure to common household sights and sounds, and age-appropriate enrichment activities. Our goal is to produce confident, well-adjusted puppies that transition smoothly into their new homes.
6. How do I reserve a puppy?
Once your application has been approved, a non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your place on our waiting list or to hold an available puppy. Puppy selections are generally made in the order deposits are received, although we reserve the right to make final placement decisions based on temperament, structure, and the best fit for each family.
7. At what age can puppies go home?
Our puppies typically go to their new homes at approximately ten weeks of age. By this time they have received appropriate veterinary care, begun socialization, and are developmentally ready to bond with their new families.
8. What is included when I bring my puppy home?
Each puppy goes home with a puppy starter package that includes registration paperwork, vaccination and deworming records, a health record, a sample of the food the puppy has been eating, and helpful information to make the transition as smooth as possible. We also provide ongoing guidance and support whenever you have questions.
9. Do you offer lifetime breeder support?
Absolutely. We believe our responsibility extends far beyond the day your puppy goes home. Whether you have questions about training, nutrition, grooming, health, or simply want to share updates, we're always happy to help. We consider every puppy buyer part of the Creek's Edge family.
10. How do I join your waiting list?
Our waiting list is the best way to reserve a future Creek's Edge Newfoundland puppy. We recommend contacting us early, as our litters are often reserved before the puppies are born. To get started, simply complete our Puppy Application and we'll contact you to discuss your family, lifestyle, and what you're looking for in a Newfoundland. Once approved, a deposit will secure your place on our waiting list for an upcoming litter.
